I just wanted to comment on this because I have come to realize that this concept is super huge and - because of the idea that it is a new agey thing - the best kept secret in Christianity.

The thoughts we think direct our actions. The difference between a person who succeeds and a person who fails is their thoughts. That's it.

Having spent time in a super dispensational church who didn't let people sway to a good song AND having spent time in a pretty pentecostal church with people getting slain in the spirit and messages in tongues happening almost every Sunday, I now realize that both sides are missing the boat.

Jesus preached about the Kingdom of God. What did He mean by that? What is the Kingdom? Jesus said the Kingdom is inside of us. Paul said that the Kingdom is love and peace. Jesus also taught that the Holy Spirit would teach us all truth and the truth would set us free. Romans 12:2 (my life verse) says that we are not to be conformed to this world but transformed. What does it mean to be transformed? Matt, you commented to me once that I was a butterfly. That is transformation. I can never again be a caterpillar. I am different. Going back to Romans, how are we to be transformed? By the renewing of our mind. In other words, by allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us all truth and change our thoughts.

Our thoughts are hugely huge.

What is the difference between a believer and a non-believer? The thoughts they believe to be true about Jesus.

Both churches that I was in - dispensationalist and charismatic - missed THE primary ministry of the Holy Spirit - making us new creatures and transforming us.

As Christians, we have something that no other world religion has - the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit and a relationship with the Living Lord. It is heartbreaking to me how many of us settle for "religion" instead.

So, yes, I very much believe that our thoughts not only can affect our outcomes but taking it a step further, our thoughts DIRECT and CAUSE our outcomes.

It's not new agey at all. It is THE good news of the full gospel. Jesus came to not only save us from our sins but fill us with Him and transform us - to give us the victorious life of an overcomer. How? By changing what we think.

Sorry for the length of this but I am very passionate about this. Jesus saved my life. I overcame alcoholism, depression, post traumatic stress disorder and domestic violence based solely on this concept. I walk in freedom today because I allowed Jesus to show me His truth and change me.

Matt and Perry,

thanks for that refreshing rant. @Tom, I agree that, as Christians, we must stay informed. In fact, Christ has called us to glory and excellence; we are to be leaders in society in everything that is right. But, the news media don't inform, they peddle negativity and useless entertainment.

Celebrating and sharing every little victory is a great strategy. We are to rejoice always, to delight ourselves in the Lord, and He will give us the desire of our heart. And, is not every victory, great and small, a gift from Him. We have positioned ourselves to receive it, but we did not win it. So, let us delight ourselves in our God and Father, and ignore the devil and his junk.

Thanks again!
